Best way for migrating from AdSense to DFP

(written by José F.)

Hi all,

I am wondering what is the best way for migrating from AdSense to DFP. I want to keep 3 content adSense ads and create one or two more for displaying our own advertisers campaigns.

As far as I know, adWords advertisers are able to reach our sites through adSense custom channels and this can increase the revenue. How do I do to keep them reaching the site (so that I can keep the revenue high)? I have three options in my mind:

  • Creating adUnits in DFP, allowing them to serve adSense, retag the sites with these tags from the new DFP adUnits, and binding them “programatically” with adSense channels. You can see this method described here: How to set up AdSense using DFPs build in AdSense option – Async Version
  • Using Orders and line items in the way described here: How to set up Google AdSense as Line Item using DFP Small Business . AdSense adUnits should belong to the AdSense custom channels I want advertisers are able to reach and, I guess, the DFP adUnits shouldn’t have the “adSense enabled” option selected.
  • Forget completly about adsense and create DFP placements with a similiar structure as adSense custom channels. This placements must have the “Google adWords” option clicked (not sure if it would be right to copy the custom channel adSense targeting at this point).

We strongly need to migrate from adSense to DFP but causing an income collapse would be terrorific for us. So what do you think it is best for us? If you have any other option, please, feel free to share.

Sorry for my English (as it is not my mother tongue). If you don’t understand something or something is not clear enough, just let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help.

And congratulations for this forum! 🙂
