local AdSense meetup

(written by christopher)

Hi all,

I’m new here, first post.

I’m headed to a local adsense meetup tomorrow – where there is a short seminar and then a one on one optimization review with a Google employee.

Anyone here ever been to one of these? I’m wondering what to expect and how to best be prepared to get the most out of it,

Chris

    Never was on one.

I heard they talk a lot about basics though.

Hope you get some useful tips out of these meeting

    I will :)

Actually, I'm there right now, waiting for it to get started. About 17 people here so far, four Google staff I think,

      Yeh, you nailed it.

Worthwhile to go just to meet the AdSense team and say that I've met them.

The actual seminar.... more of an intro to adsense than the in-depth study I was hoping for.

I was really looking forward to the 1 on 1 optimization time. I thought they would have some stats there, really dig into them and point out some places where I was missing the boat and could improve on things. I was ready to be embarrassed.

Though they ask for my url ahead of time, when I sat down with one of the staff, they asked me to type in the url. Then they said, well, maybe you could try an ad here or there. And that was it. Nothing that I had not already thought of. I was ready to dig deep, but no dice.

      Bummer.

I think it was probably great for most of the people there - most had been using adsense for years, but didn't seem to know much. The feedback I left them was not very positive - I wanted a lot more.

So I'm going to sit down, have a beer, then get back to work as usual. No big changes in mind after attending the seminar.

      Chris
