Announcing beta test of expanded category blocking
Last year we launched sensitive category blocking in order to give you more control over the ads that appear on your sites by letting you opt out of receiving ads that fall into potentially sensitive specific categories such as dating, religion, and politics.
Today we’re excited to announce that we’re beginning to test a related new feature called general category blocking with a small group of publishers. General category blocking will allow you to block even more categories of ads from appearing on your site.
Does blocking of Certified Third Party Networks increase revenue?

I stumbled upon this topic on webmasterworld where Publishers are discussing and testing
if blocking of Certified Third Party Networks will increase your revenue.
Back in October/November or whenever it was when people were reporting an invasion of unrelated ads, I blocked everything from the Certified Ad Networks.
I haven’t noticed much of a change since then in my revenue – except a slight increase.

Since launching a new report to show you how much you’re earning from Google-certified third party ad networks, we’ve received questions from publishers around how to make sense of the numbers they’re seeing. Some have let us know that they’re now blocking lower-performing ad networks based on revenue per thousand impressions (RPMs), a practice which can actually have a negative impact on overall revenue.
