How to place search-term targeted ads

(written by jshrager)

[[Noob warning!]]

I’m trying to place ads on my site based upon a set of search terms. Here’s an example from another site that works:

<iframe class="adModIframe" width="300" scrolling="no" height="250" frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="https://ad.doubleclick.net/adi/hg.bm.broadconditions/femalereproductivesystem;cat=108;cat=30;cat=17;cat=101;cat=112;cat=82;cat=151;cat=74;cat=87;cat=130;cond=female+reproductive+system;article=genital+herpes;elem=article;pos=aboveright1;tile=2;sz=300x250;u=elem-article_article-genital+herpes_cat-108_cat-30_cat-17_cat-101_cat-112_cat-82_cat-151_cat-74_cat-87_cat-130_pos-aboveright1_cond-female+reproductive+system;ord=75843054?"></iframe>

Notice this part: “…cond=female+reproductive+system;…” in the URL of the iframe.

I can’t figure out how to get this sort of thing into the placements I’m creating. All I can control seems like very general stuff (the geolocation, and such).

Thanks in advance.

ps. okay, possibly bad example -- it's from a medical site, really!

I don't really understand your question.

If you are talking about AdSense you can't influence which Ads are shown.

I don't actually care whether it's adsense or not. (I actually don't quite get what is and isn't technically adsense. Is DFP adsense?)

Just read the apprently working doubleclick-based embed in my original post, which contains this phrase: "..."...cond=female+reproductive+system...".

Regardless of whether this is adsense, it appears that they are able to selective ads based upon keywords.

What service let's you do this?

I can't find this under DFP.

Without the Webpage you took this code from I can't help you much.

DFP is an Ad Server but DFP is not capable of analysing websites and selecting keywords.

However you can pass information to DFP by using patterns. Read more about using Patterns with DFP Small Business
