Another UK Adsense publisher here!

(written by JamesM)

Hi all,

I just found the forum today while looking for some quite specific info on tracking AS using OpenX. Looks like you haven’t been open for business too long, but it’s good to see a dedicated forum. I think the entry "exam" is a good idea as it should help keep the site free of the same old newbie threads that you see time and again on other forums.

I’m a professional web developer (as well as it being my hobby), so hopefully I’ll be able to make some meaningful contributions. More recently my work has taken me into the field of analytics implementation and conversion optimization, so if anybody has any questions in that area I might be able to help out too.

@admin – Thanks for starting this site – I’ve got a lot of value from some of your posts on WMW, so I know that being a member here will be worthwhile ;)

Regards,
James

    And another UK publisher!

I've been publishing online since 2000 with one large high traffic "authority" site and several smaller sites in the family/mothers market. There was a period a few years back when I got bored of my main site and started setting up smaller niche sites - it was easier to do in those days and I enjoyed it, but these days 95% of my time is spent on my main site and I've actually just shut down a number of my older, lower-earning sites too.

I've made an excellent living with a combination of Adsense and Agency ads for some time (roughly 75% Adsense), but something changed in mid-November and my RPM nosedived overnight and hasn't recovered. Increased traffic has made up for that to some extent, but things are definitely tougher than they used to be. I'm aware that my big site is looking dated and Adsense placements - suggested to me about 3 years ago and implemented by hand across thousands of pages - will have to change. So I'm in the process of a redesign and I'm spending a lot more time on that and Adsense and less on content creation than I would like.

I found this forum because my Adsense contact suggested I might start using DFP to run Adsense and other ads on my site. I find it very complicated and confusing! But your tutorial, admin, has been a bit help and I have a few placements running through it now as a test. Many thanks for that.
