I am stumped. I have several niche sites that are ranked at the top of google. They get anywhere from 200-300 uniques a day, and I’m getting no adsense clicks on those sites. Seems a waste.
Any ideas why?
Maybe I should take adsense off those sites and try a CPA or something.
Mike
Edit: I just noticed that 75% are leaving after ONLY 5 seconds or less, and I’m telling you these sites have great, relevant content, and look good too! What the heck is going on?
Google is showing a ton of non-relevant ads too! So that's not helping me at all.
Work on your SEO. Buy some Adwords or Facebook ads.
Build on what you have there.
I've got 100 times more visitors than you but I started in 1999! and have used Adsense since 2003.
For the first year I used Adsense I was lucky to make $3 a day. It takes a while.
Are you using the WP SEO plugins and the Sitemap submission plugins?
Have you configured Webmaster Tools and such?
Do you have a Facebook fan page and a Twitter page?
If it were my site I would blend the ads, I would give the blue title the same #333333 as the rest of your site's links and the green url #aaaaaa.
In my opinion the color scheme of your ads screams "I AM AN AD!" and that's no good, at least on this site about golf stuff.
Did you try other color schemes?
I'm not following you.
You mean make the Blue Title Links Black, and then the URL's what color?
1. The main area for clicks i.e the top left corner, is occupied by a picture thus pushing your ad below the fold. You should try to get your ads above the fold top left corner at all times. It's a real hot spot!
2. Maximize your Ad units, links, and search boxes: use three ad units, a link ad and make a custom search for your site that way you can earn some revenue from your searches as well.
That's what I would do along with the other advice about the blending of your ads. Hope they're useful :)
So would need to get the main feature image lowered then, which might make the layout look funny. A google search? Hmmm??? Don't know how to set that up.
Green ad unit urls: #aaaaaa.
Yeah, I figured it out after I sent the post.
You mean like: (Resource no longer exists)
You could do a split test using for instance the following code that will show a different Ad Unit with a different colour combination on every page load: You can use more or less Ad Units, simply adjust: and add or remove: If you add more Ad Units you will have to change the number, for instance if you add a fourth Ad Unit you would add: Doing this over a period of time will show you which colour combination works best on your site.
I'm bummed out at the crappy, non-relevant ads google is showing on those sites. They have great, unique content, so I don't know why google is doing that.
Mike
Take into account that you don't see the same ads as other visitors.
Maybe your problem is related to interest-based ads?
Do you allow interest-based ads in your adsense acoount settings.
If so, you are simply seeing ads related to your browsing behaviour.
My 2 euro-cents
On that site, i see a lot of Hybrid (car) ads, which this site is about Hybrid Golf Clubs.
I don't know what interest-based ads are. Never heard of that term before. is there a setting or something?
Thanks again, Mike
Thanks! I'll take a look asap.
If you visit a lot of Golf sites and search for Golf products you'll see Golf ads when you surf the web -- on your site and others too.
The "hybrid" in your content is probably part of why you see hybrid car ads, too. Not all ads served are interest based.
Or perhaps you've looked at some of the hybrid car sites on your own.
Can they easily find what they are looking for?
I would also make a graphical rating eg a short review version with star graphics and below it your Detailed Text review.
Also a comparison table of all irons you reviewed with pros and cons would be a good idea.
Link to your reviews from that.
If you can find fitting CPA Ads go for it as well and give it a try.
One more note: You are currently violating AdSense TOS with your leaderboard banner in your articles at the bottom because it is 728px wide but you can only see 600px. You should fix that asap.
admin
ps: I see relevant Golf Ads
Can't picture what you mean by...
"I would also make a graphical rating eg a short review version with star graphics and below it your Detailed Text review.

Can you show me an example?
Also, I did a test with image based ads and text ads with an email drop to my list. The image based received HALF the clicks as text. I thought that was interesting.

2011 Ford Fiesta Reviews & ratings - Yahoo! Autos
Something like the avarage user rating.
People love visual ratings :)
Vergleich: Grafikkarten (PCIe) im Test - CHIP Online
Something like this, just adapted to your iron tests
Clicks are less on images however in standard ad sizes images pay a lot more (at least for me)
Your top Ad Unit on your front page does not have a white background and it lacks the border all other content blocks do have. Or maybe this is part of your split testing?
The Ad Unit on the middle right of your front page doesn't fit inside it's container, there's a piece of the Ad Unit sticking out on the right.
Those errors should be fixed because the rest of your site looks really neat and those ads stick out in a messy manner. That's not what blending in is about.
Ah, about interest based ads: after visiting your site I see Golf related ads on other none golf related sites, even on my own site about dog behavior.:)
