   I think it is depending on your philosophy if you go with 1 big site or 200 small sites.
   
   I personally am the 1-2 big sites type.
   
   Regarding "auto generated content" I personally don't like them.
   
   Looks almost always like "Made for AdSense" which Google also does not like.
   
   However they do work.

     I think I may go the large site route and maybe have 5-10 of them but still need to do further research.
     
     How many pages do you consider a large site to be 50-100 or more?

   Hello Clive and welcome to the forum. I would advice you to have a maximum goal of half a dozen sites so as to not put all your eggs in the same basket but also as to not have too many and lose focus, but those few sites should be carefully chosen, so spend time on this aspect, choosing the topic. It should appeal to the maximum, largest audience. And the topics of course should not be technical at all or at an extremely low level.
   
   That way you'll have more chance to get traffic and the visitors that will come will click more on your ads than if you had a more technical audience.
   
   After that, I recommend you spend time getting to grisp with Drupal 7, install one on a web hosting and play with it, build your first new site with it. That time spent on the learning curve will save you lot of time in the future, I use Drupal for nearly all my sites since over 5 years and it has NEVER failed me, I'm the one holding it back because I don't know it enough to do everything I want sometimes.
   
   But Drupal can do whatever you can think of in terms of website, just need to find help or how to do it yourself with Drupal. Takes time but once you know it, it is fast and easy and still so powerful.
   
   Finally, and I think admin will agree on this, you need to use a clear METHOD to reach your GOALS. So that means setting goals for yourself in terms of traffic and/or adsense money, and also build a plan of action, a method, that you will follow. Then workout how long it should take you to reach your goal, following your method, then you'll have a timetable.
   
   Stick to this (you can make changes along the way, no problem) and don't follow the next best idea you read on forums, and you'll get to your goal soon, maybe later or sooner than what you planned, but you'll get there.
   
   If you don't do it methodically, then you'll go nowhere I'm afraid, or you'll end up somewhere, but by taking lot of hours and lot of wasted time/effort.

     Thanks for your reply I am going to check out drupal 7 now, at the moment I am still using Frontpage 20031 as I said its been a while and I'm sure things have changed somewhat!

   it's true, my best earners are either multi-users where user provide content or automated sites where users are simply making requests (so in a way providing content by saying what they're looking for, and the system creates pages for those requests)
   
   Doing all the content oneself is not a good time/money ratio anymore for me (becoming way too lazy)
