An exception to the rule…

(written by arkueckelhan)

I recently have been reading a lot of material on adsense optimization, including many articles on this site. The knowledge is great and makes a lot of sense (specifically in getting past ad blindness). But I wanted to emphasize that looking at your own statistics is key…

Image vs Text ADs – Brainstorming

Hi

Like many of you I mostly displayed Text Ads for blending and also because I thought clicks on text ads earn more (which they do because Image Ads are CPM Ads!)

HOWEVER after receiving a google message telling me that my webpage does not use its full potential by not using image ads I started to rethink my approach.

What does google adsense support says about image ads?

Myth? DFP Adsense increases once you delive a 10% higher house ad

(written by unicorn)

Your Rectangle has a regular cpm of 10 $.

You deliver the banner from dfp-activate-adsense (inhouse).

-> You get a cpm of 10$

Now, the myth:

Your Rectangle has a regular cpm of 10 $.

You deliver the banner from dfp-activate-adsense (inhouse).

You create any house campagin (the ones that compete with inhouse adsense) of 11$

-> You get an adsense cpm of 11$

So, the myth has to be right as adsense competes with house campaigns. The question remains, if adsense delivers most of its banners (90%+ delivery of adsense, 10%- of house campaign).

Selling available Ad Inventory directly

Since I started to monetize my Websites with AdSense I also started to sell my available Ad Inventory directly to Advertisers. But there was a learning curve involved.

At first I simply contacted Advertisers via Email after seeing them advertise on competitor pages.

I emailed them, introduced my website(s) and asked them if they were interested in advertising on my sites as well.

That did not turn out very well and was very work intensive.

What is a good AdSense eCPM?

(written by adeel)

My ecpm is 0.57. I have been reading people have been getting as high as $50 for their sites.

A few days ago I decided to use openx and chose this option(If the cpm is more than 3.00, openx can show its own ads).

To my surprise, I have been getting really good results.

They have been paying me about 3.4 cpm so far and its way better than what adsense is paying me.

Your experience?
