[vBulletin] What Information to show to guests?

Hi

I run several health related forums in Germany.

In the last few month I made lots of changes to my forums especially in regards to what I show to guests.

After spending hours on thinking about my main forum and how to make it even more attractive for my visitors I came up with the idea to remove all unnecessary information to improve the signal to noise ratio.

First of, why does a guest need to see the “what is going on” box?
What valuable information does your visitor get from it?
Some will say that it shows that the community is active. Yeah, maybe.
But Post and Thread count do the trick as well.

Lots of noise removed.

[WordPress] Better ad placement?

(written by echo_unlimited)

My website: goo.gl/Qer81

I’d like to improve earnings as currently they are very low. I get around $3 per day for every 1,000 unique visitors.

I’m not sure what I could do to improve earnings. I was also thinking of placement infolink ads (Inline text advertising) to see if I could increase earnings or have 2 revenue sources, though I’m not sure how that would play out.

Any suggestions?

$78 RPM ‘typical’?

(written by christopher)

I got one of these ‘personalized tips’ messages from adsense recommending I use wider ads. Actually I had just recently changed to wider ads, so the message was a little late in coming.

However, I found this part of the message to be very surprising:

“Advertisers prefer wider ad units for their premium inventory, resulting in higher bids for your ad placements. Though all sites are different, publishers typically see $78.67 RPM when using the wider ad size.”

Whoa!!!

1 or 2 ads for desktop & mobile view

(written by landocs)

Hi,

I’m trying to figure out what’s the best tactic to serve ads on a site where the ad gets about 100K impressions daily from desktop and 140-160K impressions from mobile (total about 250K daily impressions)

Do you think it’s better to use the same responsive ad code for both Desktop and mobile view thus giving it more “strength” and increased impressions would result in better ad RPM ?

Or should I use 2 separate responsive ads codes, 1 for desktop and another for mobile ?
Another option is moving to fix sizes rather than responsive, obviously with 2 ad units.

Appreciate your thoughts on this
